Lions: young two's

Children in the Lion room are quickly becoming “big” boys and girls! Children are given lots of opportunities to become more independent, such as learning to wash their hands, use the potty, use utensils at mealtime, clean up their toys, and put their things away. Parents and teachers form a close partnership to assess each child’s developmental needs and help their child reach each successive milestone.

Children are introduced to classic children’s books and songs, various art media, musical instruments, and simple group games. Children in this class learn their colors and shapes, experience one new theme each week, and are introduced to letters and numbers. Children begin to learn how to take turns and are encouraged to use complete sentences and more complex vocabulary. Teachers help children celebrate each new skill with hugs, stickers, and special songs.
